Housing

TRAC staff is knowledgeable about available housing resources for former foster youth. TRAC  is working with many partners to increase the number of transitional housing programs available to youth aging out of  substitute care.
 

Transitional Living:

Collin County

  • City House - transitional  living program for youth ages 16 to 21.

Dallas County

  • Annie's House - transitional housing facility for women victims of violence.
  • Central Dallas Ministries/TRAC  - transitional housing for young adults 18-24.
  • Brighter Tomorrows -   long term transitional housing for homeless families.
  • Family Gateway -  provides transitional housing for families after completion of the short-term program.
  • Our Friend's Place - transitional living program for young  women.
  • Promise House - Lifestyles - a residential program for older youth, ages 16-20.
  • Promise House - Wesley Inn -  transitional  living programs for pregnant and parenting youth ages 14 to 21 not in  CPS care.
  • Buckner Children and Family Services  - The Family Pathways program provides single moms with the opportunity to live in a safe secure environment on the Buckner campus while program participants learn the necessary skills needed to become self-sufficient. 
  • Joseph House - CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.              The Joseph House is operated by the Cornerstone Baptist Church in collaboration with Buckner Children and Family Services to provide housing and training to young men between the ages of 18 - 21 who have aged out of foster care and are completing their education.

Tarrant County

  • All Church Home for Children - The Families Together program offers a single parent with up to three children housing and supportive case management.
  • Community Enrichment Center - Adopt-A-Family program is a 24-month comprehensive transitional housing program that assists homeless families.
  • Cornerstone Assistance Network New Life Center- The New Life Center is an 18-bed single-room occupancy center in Ft. Worth for
  • The Faith Project - Operated by Volunteers of America Texas. This program provides supportive services, including housing, for homeless adults ages 18-21.
  • GRACE - Grapevine Relief and Community Exchange. The GRACE Transitional Housing Program is designed to provide formerly homeless persons with housing and supportive case management. Serves Grapevine, Southlake and Colleyville.
  • YWCA - My Own Place (Ft. Worth) - transitional housing  program for young women in downtown Ft. Worth.
  • YWCA -Supportive Living Program (Ft. Worth) - transitional living program for women in downtown Ft. Worth.

 
Youth Shelters:

NOTE: For youth shelters, TEENS must have a referral. Call Jerry Sullivan (214-370-9300 x32) to get a referral for current or former substitute care (foster/juvenile) youth.

Collin County

  • City  House - short term residential services for youth ages 10 to  17 for a maximum of 30 days.
  • The Samaritan Inn -  shelter for families, transients, juvenile runaways or other displaced persons from Collin County and surrounding communities.

Dallas County

  • Promise House (Dallas) - a short-term, crisis intervention facility for  youth ages 10 to 17 who are runaway, homeless or at-risk.
  • YMCA CASA Shelter - serves youth ages 10-17 who are runaway, homeless,  or in some state of crisis.

Tarrant County


Adult Shelters:
 

Collin County

  • The Samaritan Inn -  shelter for families, transients, juvenile runaways or other displaced persons from Collin County and surrounding communities.

Dallas County

  • Brighter Tomorrows - emergency shelter and support services to those in fear of domestic or sexual violence.
  • Bunk House -  men's dormitory for transients with a capacity of 150 bunks.
  • Dallas Life -  emergency shelter for homeless men, women and children.
  • Family Gateway - provides housing for families in a dormitory-style facility for up to 10 weeks. .
  • Genesis Women's Shelter -  serves women and children who are forced to seek refuge from violent homes.
  • Reconciliation Outreach -  program for homeless men, women and children who have been involved in substance abuse or domestic violence.
  • Salvation Army - provides shelter to men, women and children.
  • Union Gospel Mission - dedicated to providing love, hope, respect, and a new beginning for the homeless.
