Women's Haven of Tarrant County

Program Description:
Provides free, temporary emergency shelter for all victims of family violence; a twenty-four hour crisis hotline offers immediate assistance to victims; assists victims in overcoming or escaping abusive relationships.
Telephone counselors assess the needs of the caller, assist with problem-solving and provide information and referrals to available community resources to meet the needs of the caller.

Eligibility:
Current victim of family violence.

Other important information:
If you are in an abusive situation or your life is in danger, arrangements can be made for shelter admission. There is usually not a waiting list; but if the shelter should be full, the staff assists in finding another shelter. This program provides cost-free shelter, food and clothing. The usual stay is up to three weeks.

The Women's Haven also offers family services, counseling, volunteer jobs, and community education. They also have the M.E.N.S. Program (Men's Education for Nonviolence) provides a program of education and counseling designed to address specific problems of spouse abuse, as well as the Children's Program which provides developmental needs assessments, counseling, support groups and recreational and social activities for the children.
